It’s been 23 years since the live-action Scooby-Doo films graced our screens for the first time, and it’s now been announced that Scooby-Doo will finally be returning to live-action.
Netflix has revealed in a post to their X account that a pilot script has been completed for a new live-action reimagining of how the Scooby gang first met. Co-writers and showrunners Josh Appelbaum (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Venom, Gone in 60 Seconds) will be taking the Scooby gang back to where the gang all first met each other, on their final Summer Camp.

Things this time will be slightly different, to keep the story fresh and exciting. Old friends Shaggy and Daphne, team up with a scientific townie named Velma and the new hot kid named Freddy, when they encounter a lost and lonely Great Dane puppy that claims to have been witness to a murder with supernatural ties.
Netflix in its recent years has had much success in adapting older IP’s with a fresh coat of paint with Wednesday and One Piece in the last few years getting both critical and commercial success, that said the less said about their take on Avatar: The Last Airbender the better. So, two out of three isn’t too bad. Here’s hoping that they can nail the quirky, exciting but spooky vibes that made the classic series and the original early 2000s movies so much fun!
