Feral pigs have been an issue at Guns Plains for a number of years, as well in parts of the West Coast and Flinders Island.

The Central Coast Council says the pigs pose a significant biosecurity risk and current legislation does not support effective management of roaming pigs.

It says reports have been made about people and their pets being attacked by pigs.

The council says current legislative powers are limited and impractical and councils should have greater power to manage and destroy feral pigs.
