Initial investigations into a fatal house fire in Rokeby on Hobart’s Eastern Shore have so far not revealed any suspicious circumstances.
Authorities have confirmed a five-year-old girl remains in a critical condition, after the devastating fire broke out during her birthday party on Sunday morning.
A 22-month-old baby girl was found deceased inside the home.
An adult was also seriously injured and three other children have non life threatening injuries, with all involved believed to be part of the one family.
It could be several days before the full details about the blaze are understood, with investigations described as complex, but the Tasmania Fire Service has called the fire a tragic accident, which started in the lounge room of the home.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
