No excuses – Police have heard it all before

North-West Coast motorists are being reminded to obey 40 km/hr school zone speed limit, with school returning for 2025 later this week.

A new campaign launched on digital platforms over the weekend, including TV radio and on-line, featuring schoolchildren dressed as adults behind the wheel of a car delivering familiar excuses for speeding in a school zone.

13 pedestrians and one cyclist have been involved in crashes in schoolo zones in the past four years, including one fatality.

Tasmanian Road Safety Advisory Council chair Scott Tilyard says it’s one fatality too many and there’s no excuses for speeding in a school zone.

Meanwhile, the new campaign has been getting plenty of positive feedback on-line.
